Thelma (Hodge) Williams Obituary (1927

Thelma M. Williams, 87, formerly of Douds, died at 2:01 P.M. Wednesday December 17, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice, Keosauqua. She was born October 10, 1927 at Hockerville, OK to Harrison and Goldie Arnheart Hodge and married Alva Ray Williams May 26, 1946 in Oklahoma. He died June 9, 2011. Thelma grew up in Oklahoma and with her husband lived many years in Cedar Rapids until moving to Douds in 2007 where she lived until entering the Good Samaritan Center in June, 2011. She had worked for Salvation Army and Wilson Foods and did volunteer work for AMVETS, all in Cedar Rapids. Surviving are three sons, Alva Williams Jr. (Cathy) of Cedar Rapids, Jerry Williams (Doris) of Douds and Rick Williams (Tammy) of Center Point, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and Orville Hodge and a sister, Ethel Osborne Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday December 20, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Visitation with family present will be 9:30-10:30 A.M. Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds. Memorials to Douds Community Club may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 15568 Emerald Road, Douds, IA 52551.
