Shelley Ann Jones Obituary (1965

Shelley Ann Jones, 56, of Johnston, IA passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Comfort House in Pella, IA. As were her wishes, her body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in the Eldon Cemetery in Eldon, IA with Pastor Mark Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers for the family, please consider bringing some fresh cut flowers to place on Shelley's resting place at the conclusion of the service. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to a women's shelter of the donor's choice or a tree to be planted in her honor. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Shelley Ann Jones was born on April 14, 1965, to James and Anita Swinscoe Jones. From an early age it was evident that she would always be able to light up a room with her smile and presence. She attended the Cardinal Community School District where she graduated with the Cardinal High School Class of 1983. Shelley was a hard worker who did not sit idle. She began working at Country Supply, a retail store that sold western wear and tac and waited on tables in the evenings. She eventually took a job with Anheuser-Busch (Golden Eagle Distributing) where she was the Office Manager. With this job she took several accounting courses that furthered her success with the company. She was a valued employee for over 17 years. Shelley worked briefly at Cambridge in Fairfield before beginning a career with Millennium Therapy where she was working as a Billing and Accounting Specialist and had been there for 5 1/2 years. Shelley was always up for an adventure. These often involved traveling to explore new places with her father and her best friend and sister, Tracy. Shelley loved to play in the dirt in her garden and would share gardening techniques and compare notes with Tracy on what was, and was not working. She loved to craft and was a gifted painter. Shelley always had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her little fur babies. She found comfort in her family and always stayed in touch through text messages or phone calls. We all know that Shelley has moved on to her next adventure, and though we miss her, we take comfort in knowing where she is, and that the world was a better place because of her presence here. Shelley was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother, Anita Jones and two uncles, Dick Jones and Randy Swinscoe. Left to share her story is her father, James Jones of Ottumwa, IA; her sister, Tracy Jones Fligg of Cottage Grove, MN; three nephews, Dylan, Cody, and Justin Fligg, as well as her extended family and the many people lucky enough to call her friend.
