Pearl "Izetta" Keasling Obituary (1922

Pearl Izetta Keasling, 94, of Eldon, IA passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon. Burial will be held in the Eldon Cemetery immediately following the service. As were her wishes, no visitation is planned. Pearl Izetta Keasling was born August 31, 1922 in Eldon, IA to Pearl and Mary Miller Hart. She grew up and attended school in Eldon, graduating with the Eldon High School class of 1939. On October 11, 1941, Izetta married Richard Keasling. As they began their journey together they also began a family. Izetta and Richard were blessed with four children; Mary Margaret (Del) Slagle, Richard Wayne (Marilyn) Keasling, Paul Edward (Kim) Keasling, and Brian Howard (Laura) Keasling. Izetta was employed at Hermanns Greenhouse and Nursery for many years before her retirement in 1984. Izetta was a member of the former Baptist Church in Eldon, where she was active as a Deaconess and taught Sunday School for many years. Izetta was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Richard; her daughter, Mary Margaret Slagle; two sons, Richard Wayne Keasling and Paul Edward Keasling; two brothers, Paul and Richard Hart, as well as three sisters, Doris Brooks, Marie Hurley, and Betty Wright. Left to honor her memory is her son, Brian Keasling of Eldon, IA; three sisters, Margie (Tom) Carter, Marilyn (Bob) Wells, and Shirley (Patrick) Flaherty; 13 grandchildren, as well as many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Izetta also had two special friends; Jerry Jeffrey and Mary Ann Brown. A special thanks to Denise Keasling and Valerie Keasling, who provided daily care after her 2015 stroke.
