N. Darlene (Dodds) Lazenby Obituary (1927

N. Darlene "Deanie" Lazenby, 88, of Keosauqua died at 5:51 P.M. Thursday January 28, 2016 at home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born November 9, 1927 to Eberly and Mabel Slee Dodds near Stockport and married Francis A. Lazenby on November 3, 1955 in Hanover, IL. He died September 10, 1975. Deanie lived in the Stockport area, graduating from Stockport High School in 1945. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Keosauqua for over 60 years and co-owned Lazenby Motor Company, a new and used car dealership with her husband until his death. She owned and operated the Corner Cafe in downtown Keosauqua for nearly 20 years, and was an active partner in Lazenby Investments, a real estate development company. Most recently she assisted her son Charles in managing Lazy Bee Log Cabin Rental by Lake Sugema. She was a member of many community and civic organizations over the years and was a member of the Keosauqua Christian Church. After officially retiring at age 65 she wintered in Florida at her second home on Panama City Beach. Deanie enjoyed dancing, baking pies and doing art projects including painting and stained glass. Deanie is survived by a son, Charles Lazenby of Keosauqua, and a brother, Jerry Dodds (Toni) of West Branch. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Eberly Jr. "Squire" Dodds, three sisters, Virginia Morrison, Shirley Croskrey and Betty Reichart. Her body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
