Esther E (Laipple) Thornburg Obituary (1928

Esther E. Thornburg, 87 formerly of Cantril died at 6:02 A.M. Thursday December 10, 2015 at Keosauqua Health Care Center where she had resided since October. She was born October 30, 1928 at Wathena, KS to William and Jennie Calvert Laipple, moved with her parents to California and later to a farm near Lowell, IA. Esther married Edward A. Thornburg November 11, 1949 at Lowell. They lived in the Bonaparte community until moving to their farm southeast of Cantril in 1985. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant and taught at the Lowell school. Following her marriage she lived an active life as a farm homemaker. Surviving are two sons, Lloyd Thornburg (Jeanine) of Packwood and Mark Thornburg (Annie) of Cantril, a daughter, Becky Henn of Keosauqua, three grandchildren, Stuart Henn (Michelle), Chantry Henn and Jeremy Thornburg, three great-grandchildren, Aleeshia, Kevin and Rabecka Henn, a brother, Joe Laipple of Prescott Valley, AZ and a brother-in-law, Duane Thornburg of Burlington. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Matt Laipple and a sister, Mary Temple. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday December 14, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Alan Paris officiating. Visitation with family present will 2-4 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery. Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 16890 285th Road, Cantril, IA 52542.
