Betty June (Breckenridge) Vannoy Obituary (1931

Betty June Breckenridge Vannoy, 84, of Douds died at 6:08 A.M. Wednesday January 27, 2016 at West Point Care Center where she had resided since May 11, 2011. She was born June 7, 1931 at Mt Sterling to Dale and Mary Lancaster Breckenridge, attended country school, graduated from Cantril High School and married Donald C. Vannoy December 31, 1950 in Milton Methodist Church. They lived near Cantril until moving to Douds in 1963. Betty worked in pediatrics at Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield, in the cafeteria at Parsons College, at Nelson Nursing Home and was activity director at Jefferson County Care Facility, all in Fairfield, She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, enjoyed knitting, embroidering and crocheting and putting puzzles together. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald of Douds, two sons, Doug Vannoy (Debra) of North Liberty and Doyle Vannoy of Douds, a daughter, Becky Vannoy of Douds, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Eastman. Betty's Body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 13, 2016 in Christ United Methodist Church, Douds with Rev. Mark Young and Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Visitation with family present will be 1-2 P.M. prior to the service at the church. Memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Lee County Health Dept. Hospice may be brought to the church or mailed to the family at 14896 Ferris Street, Douds, IA 52551. Pedrick Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
