Oda Reed Obituary (1926

Oda Reed age 82 of Fairfield and formerly of Ollie died at her home on Saturday, January 3, 2009. Born July 30, 1926 on the family farm near Harper, Iowa the daughter of Peter J. and Pearl Sondag Adam. She married Eugene Reed on November 6, 1945 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at Harper. She worked all of her life as a nurses'' aide starting at the Keokuk County Hospital and Manor House. Later in her career she worked at central supply at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Her last job was as an aide in sterilization and the surgical unit at the Jefferson County Hospital, until May, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Eugene, her children: Tom (Linda) Reed of Athens, GA, Dick (Kathy) Reed of Hedrick, IA, Deborah ( Jack) Hammes and Becky (Steve) Greiner of Richland, IA, Tena (Nick) Adam and Mary Jo (Roger) Clingan of Batavia, IA, Harry (Annette) Reed of Riverside, IA; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Edith Warwick of Delta, IA, Verda Sieren of Keota, Verena Snakenburg of Sigourney and her brother Harry Joe Adam of Columbus Junction, IA. Precede in death by her parents, 1 infant son, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Rosary followed by Scripture service will be at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. Mary Church with Father Stephen C. Page officiating. Visitation to follow the Scripture service. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield with Father Stephen C. Page and Father Richard Adam officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Clear Creek at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospital or to the new Catholic Church "A Welcoming Family of Faith". Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
