Matilda Rozetta Guess Obituary (1920

Matilda Rozetta Guess, 99, of Tomball, Texas passed away on August 6, 2020 at Park Manor of Tomball. She was born on September 4, 1920 to John and Ethel Curtis Cunningham in Creston, Iowa. She married Leo Guess on September 4, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1995. Rozetta was an elementary school teacher and taught first grade for many years in Iowa. Her hobbies were reading romance novels, her favorite author was Grace Livingston Hill. She also enjoyed crocheting. Rozetta was a very family-oriented person. She lived in Iowa until moving to Texas with her daughter and son-in-law where she lived the rest of her life. She is survived by her son-in-law, Jon N. Whisler; two grandsons, James Whisler and Jon C. Whisler; and three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Curtis and Sarah Whisler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents, John and Ethel Cunningham; and daughter, Ethel Whisler. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Iowa. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
