M. Christine Stevenson Obituary (1925

M. Christine Stevenson, age 89, passed away on October 26, 2014 at the Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. At her request, her body has been cremated with a Memorial Service to be held at the Eldon Christian Church on Saturday, November 1, 2014 beginning at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be held at a later date. In recognition of the amazing care and love given to her by the staff at the Hospice House, the family requests all memorials in her honor to be made to Hospice at 927 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ottumwa Iowa 52501. Mary Christine Stevenson was born to Russell and Pearle Jones on May 18, 1925 in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Paul W. Stevenson on February 19, 1949 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Paul passed away on May 28, 1999. Christine retired after working for Cardinal Community Schools for 25 years and was very active in the Eldon community until the time of her illness. She was a member of the Eldon Christian Church. Her greatest joy was her family: Daughter, Cheryl (Gordon) Salley of Moline, Illinois; Son, David (Paula) Stevenson of Waverly, Iowa; Daughter, Merri (Larry) Simmons of Ottumwa, Iowa; her nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Also surviving her is sister-in-law Bernice Jones of Newton, a special niece, Anita (Jim) McAnelly of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, several nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Linda Durflinger of Eldon. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and two brothers, George and Lowell Jones.
